The course consists of 10 modules that work out to about two hours of training content. You can rewind, pause, fast forward, and repeat the modules as you need. 

The course is self-paced, so you can take as long as you need to complete the course. Once you’ve finished, you’ll retain lifetime access to all of the materials. 

This course is created to crate train all kinds of puppies, but the size of crate you will need may vary by breed and how quickly they will grow and learn new things.

As soon as you bring your dog home for the first time is the best time to start crate training. As your dog gets older, you can let them spend more time in the crate, but should be incrementally increased over time. It is harder, but not impossible, to crate train older dogs, but you may be met with more resistance and will require more patience and consistency to crate train them. 

Dogs are natural den animals, and crates mimic a relaxing and den-like environment. Crate training, when introduced gradually and positively, creates a safe and comfortable designated space for your dog. Ensuring that the crate is appropriately sized, well-ventilated, and contains soft bedding is crucial. Crate should never be used as punishment or confinement for extended periods, or your dog will develop a negative connotation. Opportunities for exercise, socialization, and mental stimulation should follow all crate sessions.

Crate training can be a valuable component of potty training, but is not solely a comprehensive solution. Crate training helps teach dogs to control their bladder and bowel movements, as dogs typically avoid soiling in their immediate sleeping area. When combined with a consistent potty training routine, positive reinforcement, and frequent outdoor trips for elimination, structured crate training can expedite the process of potty training. It's important to avoid using the crate to overextend the time between bathroom breaks, as this could lead to accidents and undermine potty training efforts.

Many types of dog crates are available, including wire crates, plastic crates, and fabric crates.  Wire crates provide better ventilation and visibility, making them suitable for dogs who may feel claustrophobic. Plastic crates are more enclosed and can be cozier for dogs who prefer a den-like atmosphere. Fabric crates are lightweight and portable, great for travel. The choice depends on your dog's size, temperament, and specific needs, and should be large enough for your dog to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably. Some crates are designed with dividers to help adjust the crate size for growing puppies. Many owners opt for a primary home crate and a more compact one for traveling.

Crate training is beneficial for dogs of all ages. While puppies are commonly crate-trained to assist with potty training and discipline, adult dogs can also benefit from crate training. For example, rescue dogs or those transitioning to a new home can find comfort and security in a crate. Crates also aid in managing separation anxiety, preventing destructive behavior, and providing a safe space during travel. The training process might vary for adult dogs needing more time than puppies to adjust. Patience, positive reinforcement, and gradual acclimation are essential for all ages.
